PASSPORT TO ART—SPRING 2025
This is our multi-week course in which the kids “visit” a different country every week learning about the culture and art of that country and creating a piece of art inspired by the country visited.
Classes are 1:00-2:30 on March 16, 23 & 30 and April 13 & 27, 2025.
The Fiction Foundry
In these multi-week courses, youth ages 8-12 will learn the basics of writing fiction and will practice what they learn in creating their own imagined world, people and places.
Classes are 1:00-2:30 on July 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9 & 16.
The Great Art Adventure for kids 6-12. This is a 6 week course during which the kids will focus on learning about specific artists and art techniques. During the week before each class, the youth will receive a newsletter in the mail that will explain about the artist and the art he or she created as well as provide activities that illustrate these themes. That artist will be featured in the class and the youth will complete an art project in the style of that artist. The class will also focus on the particular art technique used by that artist. For example, when studying the Italian artist, Amedeo Modigliani, the kids will paint paintings in the elongated style for which Modigliani was famous and will learn techniques of painting. When the featured artist is Jacob Lawrence, the class will do cityscapes in Lawrence’s style and will learn the technique of collage.
These classes are 1:00-2:30 on Sundays beginning July 13, 20 & 27 and August 3, 10 and 17.
EmpowerART—A Visual Voice for Girls
In this 12 week session, girls ages 8-12 will participate in a variety of activities designed to help them achieve self-confidence in expressing themselves through world and art. They will develop storyboards, do self-portraits and create digital videos of their past and imagined future.
